Robot Cell Guarding Applications

Safeguarding developed around the robot, tooling, process, material flow, operator task and complete production environment.

New and existing automation

From concept layout to retrofit upgrade.

Early involvement can protect access, maintenance and material flow before the cell layout becomes fixed. Existing equipment can also be surveyed where fencing, gates, scanners or restart controls need upgrading, repairing or reconfiguring.

Direct answers

Technical questions.

General guidance only. The machine-specific assessment controls the final design.

Can one guarding design be reused for every robot cell?

Not safely as a blanket approach. Robot, tooling, payload, process, access tasks, stopping behaviour and surrounding machinery change the safeguarding requirements.

Can you guard an existing robot installation?

Yes. Existing cells can be surveyed for fencing, access, sensing and control upgrades, subject to the condition and interfaces of the installed equipment.

Do you work throughout the UK?

Oxford Machine Guarding is based in Oxfordshire and supports projects throughout Great Britain.

Start with the cell and the task

Discuss your robot-cell guarding project.

Send photographs, a layout or a short description. We will help define the right survey and engineering scope.

What belongs in a robot-cell safeguarding brief?

Describe the robot, tool, workpiece and all connected equipment, together with the tasks people perform around the cell. Include loading, setup and maintenance. A competent assessment of the complete application should guide the guarding and access arrangement, including the relationship between new equipment and retained controls.
